Imagine this scenario. A man walks in to a restaurant, buys a small lunch, and while eating leans over to the person at the next table and makes a comment about the nice weather. Contrast it with the guy who sits down at the opposite end of the restaurant and complains about the weather, saying how cooler temperatures would be more comfortable.
While its true, fair temperatures could be more desirable, its what differentiates the good attitude from the negative.
Change scenarios a bit, take it in to a professional setting, switch up the details, and fill in the blanks. Its not hard to see why its important to have a good attitude. To put it bluntly, who wants to hang around a grouch?
While some business may be transactional, human relationships aren’t. They are dynamic and fluid. Smart businesses nurture their culture to encourage creativity and innovation.
Optimism helps fuel success
Warren Buffett, an inspirational and optimistic man, knows the importance of a good attitude in life and business. He was quoted saying, “It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you’ll do things differently.”
In our day to day relationships, networking is key. Whether you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert, or a good balance of both, having a good outlook, and being generally likeable puts you ahead of the pack. Although the good days, and the bad days come, being able to push through, come out stronger and learning a lesson will make you better off than before.
Optimism and pessimism, aren’t that different, if you think about it, but the overall outlook is.
